Jane - why I Chose Real Estate in Samui (and Why I’m Glad I Did)
🧭 Real Estate Found Me
Like many people, I didn’t come to Koh Samui looking for a new career. I came for the sunshine, the sea, and a fresh start. My partner and I had decided to shake things up — sell our home in New Zealand, leave our jobs, and try something completely different.
We didn’t know exactly what “different” meant at the time… but we knew it involved warmer weather and less time sitting in traffic.
The move turned into a build. The build became a journey. And before long, I found myself helping others navigate their own path to life on the island — where to buy, who to trust, and what to watch out for.
I didn’t plan to become a real estate agent here. But after going through the process of buying and building, I realised two things:
It’s a lot more complicated than it looks.
There aren’t many people offering genuine, straight-up help — without the hard sell.
That realisation, combined with my prior experience as a successful real estate consultant in both Singapore and New Zealand, made the path clear.
So I applied for — and eventually secured — my Thai work visa, set up a company, and joined RE/MAX. I chose RE/MAX because I wanted an international brand I could trust behind me, and I really connected with the local franchise manager.
Since then, I’ve spent the past two years helping people take the same leap we did. And I’ve been honoured to receive multiple top agent awards both from my office and from RE/MAX Thailand.
💬 What I Love About It
I’ve always loved real estate. There’s just something about the process — the people, the properties, the potential — that excites me.
Even more, I love meeting new people, many of whom have become lifelong friends. In fact, we just had great friends from NZ come out and stay — I met Suzi and Craig years ago when I helped them find their dream home in Christchurch.
So, what do I love about working in real estate here?
Helping people find homes, investments, or better options than they thought they had
Taking the stress out of the unknown by sharing what I’ve learned firsthand
Watching people fall in love with this island the same way we did
This job isn’t just about closing deals — it’s about opening doors (literally and figuratively) for people chasing something new.
So whether you’re after a condo for holidays, a family home to live in, or just want someone to talk to before diving in — I’m here.
No pressure. No pitch. Just straight advice and genuine support from someone who’s done it.
